Correspondence Poker is a new way to play the classic card game. The primary difference between correspondence format and traditional online poker lies in the fact that players do not have to be logged in at the same time. Instead of playing hands in real time, you can play at your own pace and log in as needed to make your moves. The idea for this game was inspired by a similar version of correspondence chess which allows players to compete with others in their own convenience regardless of their geographic locations or time zones.

There are a few differences in Correspondence Poker (or CP for short) that current online poker players would be interested to know. Tilting is a common frustration among online poker players. This impulse reaction is less likely in CP because there is no worry of having to beat the clock. With more time to think about your move, and gain confidence, it is easier to stay in a calm, non-emotional state of mind. Oppositely, having to sit and wait for others to make a move can feel like an eternity. Boredom can interrupt focus and keep players from playing their best game. In CP, players don't have to sit and wait for their next turn. They can go about their normal routine and check back in on the game when it is convenient for them. Another benefit is that it is much easier to multi-table as you can take each game one decision at a time with no strict time constraints.

The overall concept behind Correspondence Poker is that by allowing players to make decisions and play hands at their own pace it will lead to a higher quality game. CP aims to create a more intellectually stimulating and less stressful environment than traditional online poker.
